My mates just bought a pc and we've just put ti together but it won't power up at all when we press the power button on the case?

AMD Ryzen 7 Eight Core 2700X
Asrock X470 Taichi AMD X470
Sapphire Radeon RX 570 Pulse 8192MB GDDR5
Team Group Vulcan T-Force 32GB
Seasonic Focus Plus 750W 80
Phanteks Enthoo Pro M Midi Tower Case

The mother board lights up but nothing will power reseated everything and still no joy one thing i find a little strange the Midi Tower Case seems to only have power cable and LED HD to connect to the mother board ?

Any ideas please really don't want a trip to ocUK to try and get it sorted but something seems wrong .

Thanks

ATX 12v cable plugged in, up near the CPU?

Yeah 8 pins ( 2 x 4 split )

Have you got the power button plugged in the right way around? Will the thing power up outside the case?

Easily done. You can also turn it on by connecting those 2 power on pins with a screen driver for when it's not in a case.

Well, it's not like forgetting something even completely unconnected would be unheard of...
I think most "old timers" would have to confess of having done that at some point.

I did this with a old HDD that wouldn't show up when the pc booted. Took me three days to work out I hadn't plugged in the power to it inside the case. Not my proudest moment.

Morning

Strangely enough got issue again .

My friend i've built it for live away from me and i set up all up installed windows was running fine he's now got the system and saying when he powers it up its powers for 5/10 seconds then reboots it's self like in a loop ?

No bleeps or anything ?

I suggested he took a stick of ram out and see 2 x 16gig and it's still doing it tried both sticks ?

He' shipping back to me or driving up next week to see me with t any ideas please?

Thank you.

If it's a single shut down before normal start-up this can be normal behaviour - the PC aquatints itself with the memory and other critical details, and then turns itself off and restarts normally (10 seconds seems excessive, though - could he be off with his timing?).

Ask your friend if it's like the above description before an expensive shipping fee.

Or, is it looping continuously?

On re-reading, i'm presuming a continuous loop - basics:
  • Check all connections (press formly or reseat)
  • Check GPU firmly in place
  • reseat memory (already done)
  • Plug PC directly into the wall power socket - not off an extension lead (essential to rule out).
  • Get, him to double check and triple check all lead connections - even kettle lead.
  • Clear CMOS
As you haven't mentioned it - try a CMOS reset and see if that gains you access to the BIOS (1 stick is advisable).

I then would make sure the maximum voltage (1.35V) is being pushed to those individual(?) 16Gb sticks or if necessary add a slight increment more voltage. If that doesn't work you could try slacken the memory timings slightly - and I'm presuming it's running at 2933MHz?

Yeah I mentioned this to him as mine did it when i upgraded it's memory but he left it for 10 mins and just kept looping .

Not sure he'll know how to reset the CMOS but i did say can you keep hitting Del when it boots to get into the bios but it didn't let him ?

Thanks for your replies

That board has a 'Clear CMOS Button' on the I/O panel (the panel where the USB ports etc are).

Be sure to unplug the PC from the wall, a deplete all power by pressing the on switch again, and then use the little button to clear CMOS.

Plug in, power on - test.

I'll give him a call and let him no and see what he does thank you .

No probelm.

Get him to do as many things , as he can, in that check list too - ruling out a dodgy extension lead is an easy thing to do, so is checking cable connections. Keeping in mind the system was working at your house...

He says he's tried everything so he's going to send it me tomorrow and I'll take a look from there always difficult to explain things to someone that doesn't know a lot about computer other than powering them on etc .

Will try everything tomorrow and report back.

Thank you.

No worries, best of luck.

Evening

Right got the computer today and just been testing it as he said it's just booting up saying no single on monitor then after about 15 /20 secs switching off and rebooting .

So tried Clear CMOS Button with the switch nothing
So then removed the battery nothing

Removed Graphics card and reseated it nothing
Removed graphics card and used motherboards HDMI socket nothing .

2 x 16G memory

Took one out and tried it a few times nothing
Swapped it for the other stick and still nothing ?

Absolutely puzzled trip to ocUK possibly as something is faulty ?

http://sendvid.com/0kranwxd Video of it happening

Thank you

*Using moble: but Ryzen 2700x doesn't have integrated graphics - only use the 570 for testing.

Also, have you tried a different output lead from the GPU?

Have you got the monitor set to the right output?

EDIT: check that the motherboard is securely fitted - any movement?

Next step will be unplugging all none essential devices...

But, was it pre-built(?) - check you're not voiding any warranties or simply return.
