New PC

Right then guys I'm currently building a new pc for my g/f and I'm wondering what this should score on 3DM06.

Asus m2m32 SLI Wireless edition
Athlon 64 x2 4800
Crucial 2 x 1gb 6400 (more expensive stuff)
and an xfx 7950 gx2 1gb
Think thats what you need isnt it, would just like a comparison for when it's finished.

I know pretty much not a lot about PC's these days, but surely a Conroe would be better to push that monster of a graphics card than the 4800x2?

Besides, I thought I heard the xfx 7950 had compatibility issues with the newer AMD processors? I could have obviously read wrong though.

And, isn't the X1900XT ATI PCI-E better than the xfx 7950 anyway?

The AM2 scores 87.9fps in far cry, so if you get the Conroe E6400 (or better) you'd get 105fps. The X2 4800+ is £446 and the E6400 is £180. Conroe is so much better value for money.

And no, the 7950 is better than an X1900, but it can't do HDR+AA (i don't think).

Dont know of any problems at all between AMD CPU's & the Nvidia 7950 graphics cards.

The 7950 (really 2 cards linked together) is quicker than the X1900XT, but then it also cost more too.
