Hello all, new 2 these forms so though i give a hi etc :)

Right low down is my motherbored got fryed about a week ago and basic need a new 1, problem is it is a ASUS A8N-SLI PREMIUM which is quite an old bored 2 find

Old specs were

AMD Dual core 3500+
2GB DDR p c 3200 RAM
of course ASUS A8N-SLI Premium motherbored
Geforce 9600GT
570W power supply
200GB sata hard drive

Right so basic need some ideas, do i try and find the motherbored which can take that. Or just build a whole new system.

I'm tempted 2 try ATI graphics out for once and get a higher processer.

Link some parts if u don't mind all :)

Simply put, ask yourself these questions before going any further:

1.) Find out the price for the correct socket board you need;

2.) If it's a bit steep, can you justify the price?

3.) Do you really need a new rig? Do you game enough, or work it enough that it bogs you down? If the answer is yes, then answer #4 !

4.) What is your budget? And away we go, haha. :D

Hi Gingey and welcome to the forums :D

I'd recommend against getting a new board to put your s939 Atlon processor in. They are not made any more and are vastly outperformed by new phenom 2s (and intel core 2).

What is the brand of your PSU and what is your current case and operating system? These may be able to be reused.

First of all, what kind of budget are you looking to put towards this upgrade?

Also, do you plan to overclock your new system? Lastly and most importantly, what do you plan to do with your PC (gaming, CAD, internet browsing etc)

With this info we should be able to put together a nice spec :)

Edit: Sorry - isn't the 3500+ a single core?

I game a lot, and i mean a lot. PC gaming always been my fav

Budget bout maybe £500-£600 for a full system if i can. Don't need case

and the 3500+, ment 3400+ and was a dual core.

PSU i tihnk it looks quite cheap so think i also need a new 1

here you go m8. £600 almost exactly

Powercolor ATI Radeon HD 4890
AMD Phenom II X3 Tri Core 720 Black Edition 2.8GHz
Asus M4A78T-E AMD 790GX
PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750 Quad-Crossfire PCI-E 750W Power Supply
OCZ Platinum 4GB DDR3
Samsung SpinPoint F1 320GB SATA-II
LG GH22NS30 22x DVD±RW SATA Dual Layer ReWriter

Quad core, 4GB DDR2, superb cooler, very powerful graphics card, faster HDD, perfectly suitable PSU(may want to upgrade to 650W if you plan to got dual GPU in the future). I know people will whine that 775 is a "dead socket", but that CPU is as fast as an X4 955 in games and overclocks like a beast. Also, considering crossfire x8x8 its a rather sweet platform.

I think that system should have you gaming in luxury :)

cool some nice choices there, forgot 2 say i got a dvd rewriter and a hard drive still from the old machine.

Only problem is that it was running on xp so think it's better 2 get vista and use the old hard drive as the 2nd or just use the old 1 and get a exturnal?
