The 'K' chips (2500K + 2600K) have unlocked multipliers and so are extremely easy to overclock. Also, if you are still uncomfortable, most motherboards have a built in feature that will automatically overclock the CPU for you.

As you have a q6600 why not practice overclocking that - its a great chip to start with as its almost guaranteed to reach 3ghz and maybe 3.6-3.8.

A good starting attempt would be to set the volts to 1.35, the bus to 400 and the multiplier to 8 for a nice 3.2ghz overclock. Remember to lower the speed of your RAM as this will be overclocked as well.

Just remember the sandybridge chip will be allot easier to overclock than the q6600 because basically all you do is up tue multiplier. If you build yourself consider getting a better graphics card 560ti or 6870 should show large performance increases :)

Thanks for that Reaper 392 :D

I now have a budget of 1,000 now, another reason i was going for a pre built pc is cause i don't know what components are best.

i game at 1920x1080 and i love all the eye candy maxed out :D

i only play wow at the moment but with a new pc i will get allot of new games. crysis 1/2, the witcher 2. Gta so on. plus id like it to be ready for battlefield 3 ;)

so reaper or anyone else would you be kind enough to spec me a gaming rig for around 1,000. just id like this case Cooler Master CM-690 II Nvidia Edition if you can.

Thanks allot guys :D

I've decided to go all out with the GPU here as that is where you will see the most performance in gaming. You'll be able to play all the games you said at very high quality, and you have got the option of going SLI in the future.

If however, you do things other than just gaming and want a more general use PC, here is another build with a less powerful GPU, but more RAM, a bigger and faster SSD and a better cooler:
