New PC

Delivery came this morning, was getting all excited until I realized one thing... the case hadn't been delivered!! Not very happy.
Rang OcUK up to ask what happened and was told it was missed off the shipping order and will be redelivered on Monday.

Not too pleased as obviously I can't go ahead with my build until it gets here!!

Gutted, like a kid a at Christmas that is told his present hasn't arrived.

Hey, **** happens. You can try a boot outside the case.

Turns out I wont be able to get windows on it till Wednesday anyway, but would've like to have atleast built it over the weekend. Ah well, case will be coming today anyway so no biggie :p

Another update,
Called OcUK to find out why I couldn't track my order on DPD, turns out that it hadn't been picked up from the warehouse yet and wont be delivered until tomorrow!! Had a little moan and the guy on the phone said he'd refund me half of the shipping costs. Whilst it's still nice to have some money back, i'm still a bit miffed tbh :(
Being the first time i've ordered from here and seeing everyone sing their praises I was hoping for a nice, fuss free delivery, but now i'm beginning to wonder if I should order from here again

Right case finally arrived yesterday, put everything together (except the stuff that i'm taking from my old computer) and all is looking good. I'll post piccies once it's up and running. I need to install windows on it tonight and finish a uni assignment so i'll get all that nonsence out of the way before I oc tomorrow.
If i'm going for a 4.5 overclock, what settings should I be looking at on the mobo i've got? I'm quite new to overclocking so any help would be great!

Thanks

Olivier - I might have been a bit, was just frustrated at the time!

Computers up and running, had to steal the ram, gfx and cooler out of my old PC and will replace the gfx and cooler next month. My brother is going to buy his own ram and I don't see the need to replace mine atm (XMS3).
Got Windows and mobo drivers installed last night but didn't have time to do anything else. One issues I did find was that the mobo usb ports worked the first time I booted into BIOS but wouldn't work after that but plugged mouse and keyboard into case usb ports which work fine. Could the drivers fix that problem? I've never encountered that when building a computer?

First time I booted BIOS was telling me that the CPU was at 70 degrees!! So reaseted the cooler and it went down to 27-32ish, is that normal for stock settings? My room was pretty warm last night so might go lower now that the sun's gone back into hiding.
Going to get everything installed tonight and maybe try overclock a little if I have time, although if I can't get to 4.5 on this cooler i'll leave it a little lower until I get my new one.

Also, I'm a little torn as to what to get for my gfx card next month again, having looked at this it seems that they are both very similar on Dirt, BF3 and Skyrim (which i'll probably be playing). The gigabyte 7870 is £60 cheaper than the Sapphire 7950 so not sure which one to go for.

Cheers

30-ish is normal at idle. I would try 4.2GHz first. The 3570K run warmer than 2500K. In any case, your overclocking limit will be the voltages, that will dictate the frequency. But keeping under 1.325V would be my aim. Should give between 4.2-4.4GHz without going over the CPU and cooler specs.

Thanks Olivier, you've been very helpful!
Hopefully this will be my last question. Which gfx card would you recommend? I'm currently using a 1080p monitor with a second 17" but will be adding a 32" TV soon for watching films and playing a few games on. I would like something that will last me at least a couple of years or something that I could go Xfire with later down the line. I know someone has already covered this but the 7870 caught my eye recently and wanted to know which I should go for.

Hi, another update.
Decided to try a little overclock for now, so all I did was set the multiplier to 40, set the voltage at 1.250, turned off turbo and left everything else as it was. My temps idle between 30-40 across the cores and I've run OCCT for about 45 mins and did intel burn test and temps went up to 55-61.
Will this be ok?
