Help:
I have just built a pc, when i power up it shows processor and ram ok shows ram frequency then reboots. this just cycles through until i power

Anyone got any ideas? I've disconnected everything ,removed the cmos battery and moved the jumper, this should reset it right?

I would download Memtest86 and put it on a floppy and run that for a few loops and see if it picks up any RAM errors.

Ahh, ok, so you can't get into the BIOS either? In that case Memtest won't help as it won't get that far.

Just one stick of RAM? Try it in another slot.

I have tried two different makes of ram in each slot, the problem i get is that themachine "posts" and then just restarts, if i press anything on the keyboard then again it just restarts effectively meaning i cant get into the bios.

The psu should be powerful enough as i have gone down to my radeon 9200 and 512 of ram just to try and get the thing to boot!

Incorrectly seated heatsink/cpu?.....at a long shot...

That suddenly crossed my mind last night as this is my first build, I thought there was a thermal pad on the heatsink but im not so sure now be cause it was so thin.
If i take a picture would someone be able to confirm if i need some thermal paste or not?
