Hello all!

Firstly I know this is like a bi-annual thread of mine, but the time has come to replace my apple phone and move on!

I wanted the nexus 6, but don't want something that big in my pocket so am looking to restrict myself to 5" at the most really! The z3 compact has sparked my interest and many people seem very happy with it in its thread!

I also am interested in windows mobile, as it seems to just work, however I've only really used iOS and android devices before and I know my way around them both. I don't however, want another apple device as they are too expensive for me.

Can anyone suggest me where I should be looking? Max budget really is around £450, but the cheaper the better. I need a good camera ( I realise its not an SLR - I already have one of those, but I like opportunist shots to be decent), decent battery life (I currently now get around 8 hours from my iphone, have replaced the battery once and I don't want to do it again as I find the phone to be very laggy now.

Thanks for any help :)

If I was looking for a phone at this point in time and it HAD to be under 5", I wouldn't even have to think about it. Z3 compact.

The normal Z3 is only 5.2"...

The nexus 5 is a manageable size. If the z3 is around the same would it be a far better investment than the compact?

The M8 is apparently available pay as you go for £289 as of tomorrow! Is the Z3 camera and battery life significantly better than the M8?

The camera definitely is... battery will be too, the M8 will do a day easy everytime however.

The Z3 in copper is beautiful... but I'm moving from my Note 3 to the M8 if i can pick one up tomorrow. Moving because despite having massive hands... I've just grown a little tired of the stretch handed nature of handling my phone. M8 is beautiful to hold...just wish the camera was better.

You've seen the same deal then :) It's a cracking price I feel, but the z3c really appeals! As does waiting for news of this moto droid turbo thing ..... decisions!:o:(

I've come to the conclusion there are no good phones out anymore :(
Most have taken away expandable storage which is an absolute must, and most have gone way to big.

This is why the z3 compact appeals so much! Expandable storage and not too big!

TL;DR +1 for the Nexus 5

Personally the Nexus range has ruined me in that I now only look at stock Android phones. People moan about the camera and battery. If you use the phone a lot the battery can drain quickly. The camera though works fine for me.

I've done iPhone's and still consider them great phones. When I had a HTC Desire I hated it and couldn't wait to get back to the iPhone. I then tried the Samsung S4 and again hated it. I detested Android from this point onwards so I tried Windows Phone. It's fast, easy to use and does most stuff your wanting from a smart phone. The apps though is a major hurt. I had little money have changing phones twice already so got a Nexus 7 tablet to get access to my core apps again. Loved the experience. Sold the Lumia to get the Nexus 5. Wish I had the money to get the Nexus 6.

I don't really want to buy an already 1 year old device though so have kinda ruled the Nexus 5 out of the running. It is a cracking phone, mine had issues when I got one so I returned it for a refund and never ordered another.

Sadly not available on Verizon (the best network with the worst selection of phones).
The Z3 compact, is literally the only phone out there of note at the moment. Used to be spoiled for choice.

Can you not just buy the phone sim free out there?

Sadly not with Verizon as they don't use sim cards. It is such a pain over here.
Verizon is easily the best carrier in terms of service and coverage, yet with the phones they want to change them for exclusive reasons.
The just released the Sony Z3v -- which by all accounts is closer to the Z2 :(
Still contemplating it, but wouldn't be 100% happy.

Moto X I currently have, which I love, but ran out of storage, otherwise I'd just buy the 2014 version (again, gone bigger and not enough storage)
