New posts different colour

Apologies if this has been asked before.

I think it would be really useful if, like asdlguide forums, posts that are more recent that the last time we looked in the thread appear in a different colour. Also threads in the subsection that are new or have been added to to appear in another colour.
Would this be easy to implement?

The icon on the left of each thread does basically the same thing doesn't it?

Ah yes. That tells you that there are new posts in the thread indeed.

The first feature would be the most useful though. Clicking on a thread and all new posts appear in a different colour so you can just scroll down to where you left off easily. Is that possible?

Not without using a vBulletin mod/hack, which the forum admins here don't like to use, for security reasons.

So basically it's not going to happen.

I'm not really sure, I'm not up to speed with such things

I am pretty sure however that it's not something that we'd be willing to do - the style of the forums have been the same for a very long time and I doubt it's going to change any time soon.

The "View first unread" button on the top left just under the reply button should do what you want I think.

I find the new post button is not always reliable, usually in picture threads (anything to do with how FF renders?)

yes, it'd be useful for ppl.. but wouldnt it spoil the style of the forums? adding more colours would surely ruin the flow and the plain, simple, effective scheme this forum already has.. ??
