Right guys so basically I originally had a ASU’s aura 1000watt psu which went bang and then I swapped it out for the same psu but in the 1200watt variant and that developed a bit of corrosion on the pci express 12v hwpwr connecter so people on here advised me to Send it back so I did and got a full refund off the guys here at OCUK. My question is I need a replacement psu now and I’ve been looking at the seasonic to and px series does anyone on here recommend them or what psu would you recommend as a good replacement? My specs are a i9 14900k and a rtx 4090. Thanks everyone

Vertex PX reviews fine and the 12-year warranty is nice to have, but Antec HCG Pro (derived from the same platform) is usually cheaper (minus 2 years of warranty).

Prime TX is very expensive and very unlikely to get your money back for the efficiency, unless you game all the time. Do like the Noctua brown though.

How can you tell what one’s seasonic have actually made?

If you're wanting another 1200W this is hard to beat right now:

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £143.99 (includes delivery: £3.99)

A rated on the SPL tier list, has some very good reviews out, 10 year warranty.

This is what I settled on, great so far.

They are very good, I've got one spare actually. But there are so many good PSU's now, I don't think the most expensive ones are worth it.
This. It's your money at the end of the day, I think spending 400 notes on a Seasonic prime TX 1300 watter doesn't make financial sense when putting together a PC. Nearly all (I'd tend to stay away from the Kolink) of the 1200 watters that OCUK stock at the time of this post I would buy if I was looking for said powered PSU. The efficiency savings aren't worth it unless you are running the rig (let's say for bitcoin mining) 24/7 at full load for the lifetime of the rig. If you want titanium rated, go for the BeQuiet Dark power 14. To pay almost Double that price for the Seasonic with an extra 2 years warranty and another 100 watts, put the money saved for another bit of PC hardware (2TB SSD ?) or a good night out. ME = I'd spend that money on Coffee, that's 6 months worth at todays prices. ;)

This is it really.
Assuming you're not buying something from Pound land and don't have a niche use case you'll probably be fine.
Save the cash and put it into something like your GPU/CPU or sadly these days storage.

Yeah the quality is very good now, PSUs used to be a bit of a minefield, anyone who remembers the days of Hypers blowing up will attest to that. I don't think anything past Gold makes much sense, you'll never get that money back. Get a solid unit with some headroom, done.

Where do you feel your money now as a gamer? assuming you've got the GPU/CPU right, any gen NVME drive, and then for me MONITOR, and your keyboard and mouse combo, the things you actually interact with minute to minute.

Thanks for the advice guys I was going for seasonic as I’ve had a headache with ASU’s psus had one blow and other one had failure also so basically wanted reliability. Is this Phanteks psu any good as I’m running a i9 14900k and a rtx 4090 https://www.overclockers.co.uk/phan...power-supply-modular-black-pow-phk-06078.html
The Phanteks is supposed to be a very good PSU, but think i would go with the Lian li SX 1200w mentioned earlier.

Lian li is £10 cheaper and has a 10 year warranty, whereas the Phanteks has only 8 years.

I’ve read that the Phanteks has a be try loud fan tho which is an off put for me. The antec hcg pro 1200watt gets a good write up and few on here on the thread running it no issues so I think I’m gonna go for that now

The Phanteks AMP GH is definitely a step down on the HCG Pro. They're built to a price, while still being fairly good/competitive performers. I'd put it on the same level as Corsair's RMe and be quiet 13M.

Antec's HCG Pro is a top tier unit, very high build quality (the PSU it is derived from has a 12 year warranty), but obviously it has a price to match.
