New PS3 Feature...

True but considering PS3 users dont pay for online gaming access .....

The difference is that MS could drop the subs for Live and make it a free service if they wanted to get a market boost, you'd be stuck paying your £60 a year.

Bearing in mind it costs me £120 to insure all my household contents for a year, £60 on a console is ridiculous, its no better than the rip-off insurance you get with mobile phones and high street electronic stores.

Hardly anything to get excited about either way, the £80 3 year microsoft cover is a much better deal.

Doesn't most household insurance cover accidental damage only?

Mind you I guess if your PS3 breaks down you'd just have to chuck it down the stairs before you claimed on the house insurance :p

You can buy third party extended warranties for electrical consumer goods like PS3s - google it and get some quotes. It is miles cheaper than £60 a year. (As an alternative to buying it from the store of purchase, at the time.)

Well I never knew that, thanks mate.

Every 360 comes with the option to buy a 3 year extended warranty within the first year of purchase. IIRC its £45 for the 3 years.

It does? Will have to look into that when I get home then as it's tempting to go for it.
