New PSU and what RAM for E2140?

I am upgrading my parents PC to a core2duo E2140 system but I am wondering whether I need to get them a new PSU? If I am honest I can't remember what their current PSU is, I think its around 400W. Its in a Athlon XP 2600+ setup they currently have. Will their current PSU have all the connectors needed for a core2duo motherboard?

Also I am getting them DDR2 6400 RAM (2 x 512mb) is that the correct speed for the E2140?

Oh while I am here, should I get a SATA or IDE DVD/RW? Or does it depend on the motherboard?

Just grab the Geil 2Gb kit on this week only

Also try to get an SATA but it depends on whats on your motherboard.

Can you give a bit more of a clue about the PSU? Saying it is 400w doesn't really give a lot to go on. How old is it? Is it ATX 2.0 compliant etc? If all else fails then looking at the label on the side of the PSU is your best option.

As for Ram, anything above PC4200 will work but as TheRedZealot says the Geil PC6400 on This Week Only is so cheap that you are as well to get that, it will be better if you ever decide to overclock.

What motherboard are you considering getting?

Its about 3 years old, I will have to check I think. Although they live miles away so might just get them a new one.

As for a motherboard I am open for suggestions? Was looking to spend around £50 on the motherboard.

Trying to do the whole upgrade (E2140, mobo, big HD, 1 or 2GB RAM, DVD/RW, GPU, and probably PSU now) for under £200. Any help would be appreciated c

I know this is a bit over the budget but you can't really fit all you require into £200. The motherboard is mATX so has onboard graphics.
