Hi, iv just gotten a 7800GS AGP card to replace my 9800pro. It doesnt work if i just plug it in instead of my 9800pro, the fans spin and its blue LED comes on, but it doesnt output a signal, also, my PC makes a long beep at me.

Iv been told that this maybe because i need a more powerful PSU, currently i have the original Antec sonata black case with the PSU that came with it, a 350W Antec true power or somthing.

Which PSU should i replace it with, or have i gone about putting my new graphics card in the wrong way, do i need to install the GeFroce drivers before hand as my old card is ATi? How would this work. Thanks.

well first off, uninstall the ATi drivers, then using driver cleaner scrub any remnants from your system(best done from safe mode)

now i would have thought 350watt antec psu would power a 7800GS (as its actually a 7900GT just with extra bits for an AGP interface.) as its not a power hungry card.

im running my X1800XT (VERY power hungry) on an akasa 400 watt pax power.

my advice is dump your card in a pc with a better psu to test that the card works (if possible) but if you do decide to go for a new psu then even if the card turns out to be dead, then at least youve got a nice psu to carry through to future builds.

muhahahahaaaaa 100 posts away from 4K ... i need to get laid :(
