New PSU time, Help Needed !!

Yeah just looked at the seasonic one, seems for not much more i can get the corsair for £127 and it has just been awarded the 80+ Gold so is very efficient.

Can I jump in on this discussion with a request for similar, but much lower level advice? ;)

Want to upgrade the PSU in my Dell Inspiron 530 because it's struggling a little following some recent upgrades AND it's a bloody noisy bugger!

I only need 400-500w, and want it cheap (sub-£60), as quiet as possible and fairly easy to fit (I've never replaced a PSU before...)

Mobo is a P35 socket 775 with one PCI-e connector; I'm running one HDD, one SSD and a DVD-RW drive off it.

I'm thinking of getting the OCZ StealthXStream 500w Silent Power Supply - would that work OK, do you think?

I would take the Seasonic over the Corsair. The fact that the Seasonic even can run passively at low loads will make it quieter and TBH with a pair of HD5870 graphics cards 750W would be OTT.

The HD5870 has lower power consumption than a HD4890:

Firstly you need to check whether the Dell motherboard is using proprietary connectors.

Also I would look at this PSU:

TBH,even this PSU would be probably fine:

Of course if you are running a card above an HD5770 1GB then perhaps go for a 450W or 500W PSU.

Hey start your own thread ;) lol

Ive had a StealthXstream before and they are pretty good.

Seasonic X-750 750W modular Power Supply is 80+ gold efficient anyway and 126.90 with free delivery (just not at ocuk because they wont stock them)

87.65% efficiency when loaded to 752watt @ 45c is epic.

most the corsair psu's have components made by seasonic ;)

Sorry, dude!
:p

So far as I can tell my Dell has no proprietary connectors, so I'm going to chance it on a Corsair VX 450W - it's got 13 fantastic reviews here and more elsewhere.

Just to make your decision that bit more difficult. The corsair comes with a 7 year warranty. What does the seasonic come with?

5 years most people would change a psu within 5 years anyway i'd imagine.

most people agree seasonic has a much better build quality anyway :P

i know but for the same price i can get the extra 100w's and an extra 2 yrs warranty....

i have been reading reveiws on them both and they are both very equally matched.

Well guys picked myself up a nice Seasonic X-750 750W modular Power Supply today for a very reasonable price and have it sat in front of me :D

Should i take some pics ?? :)

I'd like to see some pics of it installed if you have the time. Looking for a fully modular PSU myself for ease of cable management :)
