New PSU

think 900w is a bit overkill if your not running dual or tri cards. Modular is def the way to go though, nice neat cabling :) I would think a nice 500-600w modular PSU would be fine for you. Im currently using a coolmaster which comes with all the cables you could ever need and a nice case for them :P although ive heard good things about the corsairs too.

nice brands: bequiet, corsair, enermax, pc p&c, seasonic and zalman

probably don't need to spend that much
 
Well i'm running water cooling, overclocked Q6600 to 3.6 ghz, ATI Radeon 4870 Sapphire (Will be crossfiring in near future) Currently running a cheap ******** 750 watt (only thing i could see bottlenecking my card as im recieving poor performance) And this looked like as you said, Overkill but promising, any other suggestions for a system of mine?
 
Yeh as lunarwolf said, I would choose out of those brands (also add coolermaster to that list). Definately go for modular aswell.

In your price range of £150 and in stock are these seems coolmaster at 850w is your best value for money. Im using the 850w coolmaster one myself and i said it comes with every cable you could need and more spare in a lovely wrap around case :)

Very good PSU's would these handle crossfiring when i eventually do? And i do apologize if this sounds daft at all, Don't the ATI's need a 8 pin connector from the PSU? Using 2x 4 pin atm and when i'm running ATI Software it says it's only detecting one, Could that be because i'm using a cheap ******** 750 watt psu and not recieving enough power or is it cause i'm using a molex cable power lead aswell? (again do apologize if it sounds daft)
 
Well the Zalman comes with 6pin and a 8 pin pci-e connectors and it is a excellent psu. However, it is massive overkill as i recently found out. My rig draws a peak of 274w and that's with orthos and fur stability test running at the same time. Cpu and Gpu both at 100%, something that you are not likely to do very often if at all. A quality 500w would be more than enough. The Zalman 500w also has 6 pin and 8 pin pci-e connectors. If you look around you will find the excellent Enermax Modu/pro 82+ 525w psu's. These are ultra efficient and very quiet. The Modu 82+ is modular and around £85 and the Pro 82+ is fixed cables and around £75. Both have a single 6 pin pci-e cable and a pair of 6+2 pin pci-e cables.

Sorry but i disagree with you. They will take the temps correctly from where they are positioned. They will never give you the actual temps of NB/SB/Mosfets/CPU/Gpu as you would have to place the sensors directly onto the chips and then they would overheat due to the coolers not fitting properly. The best you can do is to fit them to the heatsinks where they will give you a good idea of the operating temps. Done this way they are not that far out. As for the power monitoring part, it has an adaptor that plugs into the plug socket on the rear of the psu. The power plug then plugs into that so it displays the total power draw of the pc in real time. It is exactly the same amount that the plug in power monitor displays so that shows just how much you know.
 
I can't believe I went for a Zalman PSU but they are damn quiet I've read tons of Reviews.

That pic is just for show, my rig is actually getting built tonight. :cool:

I bought a 1000W PSU not because I will use 1000W but I estimate with my new system underload I will use around 500W which is 50%, nearly all PSU's peak efficency is rated at it's 50% load.

The fan on the PSU runs at 20dba upto around 600W, so it will stay nice & quiet, quieter than those Corsair HX620's or Enermax mod82's when running those sort of loads.

People always say "oh your psu is way over spec" etc but I would rather have a PSU that doesnt have to break a sweat running than using a HX620W which would be at around 80% load.
