Sorry if this is in the wrong section, i couldn't see a section of PSU.

Anyway, in 2008 i bought the "Primo Pro" AMD Athlon X2 5600 3.00GHz SILENT DDR2 System from here aswell as a Asus GeForce EN8800 GT 512MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail.

And i stupidly forgot to check the recommended power for the Gfx, which wasn't enough with the basic PSU in the system. So it's about time i upgraded it now i have some cash.

So i spotted this:

Would that be enough to run this spec inc the gfx card?
AMD Athlon X2 5600 3.00GHz
Corsair CM2X2048-6400C5 x2
WDC WD2500AAKS
Pioneer DVD-RW

It's still the basic system that came in with the PC but i've added 2 extra case fans.

Thanks for any help.

What PSU came with the system and have you tried the card in it?

Their new Primo systems have a 400w Corsair which would be more than capable of running an 8800gt, yours might have the same one.

D'oh really?

So i've had this card for 2yrs, and been playing games like tf2 at 640*480 because the box said recommended 400watts

The recommended is usually higher than what's actually needed to account for lower quality power supplies from brands such as Q-Tec, Colors-It etc.

I say try it at least, worst case scenario it won't work and you'll have to get a new PSU (which you thought you would have to do anyway).

Just installed it and it's running fine so far *touches wood*

I feel like a right moron now :P

Thanks for your help, Raikiri :)
