Hi,

Recently upgraded my PC but didn't upgrade the PSU at the same time.

I bought.

I5 2500k
8GB of Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey
Asus P8Z68-V
Crucial RealSSD M4 64GB
1TB Samsung Spinpoint F3

I have a feeling my current Cooler master 550W PSU will be on the limit when I come to add a decent graphics card? (560TI, possibly higher)

What's the general opinion?

Thanks

Which CM PSU is it? age?

I think you should be fine with a GTX560ti/6950 and a 550W PSU.

Any higher or SLI/Crossfire then a new PSU will be nice.

This PSU - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-117-AN&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat=1088 - is good for any single graphics card and SLI/Crossfire of GTX560ti/6950/6970 etc.

This one - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-006-LA&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat=2057 - will manage a pair of GTX570 SLI and the lesser cards

This one does GTX580 SLI and all the lesser cards - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-039-OC&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat=1098

The sticker looks slightly differnent.

My product number is RP-550-PCAA-E2, that one seems to be RS-550-PCAR-E3

That could mean the one you linked is a newer, improved version which is equally as bad.

Yup - bin the PSU. Buy an efficient model and the 10% extra efficiency will probably pay for your replacement over the next couple of years.

The PSU geniuses on here will be able to recommend a good buy. I would recommend the XFX core edition 550W / 650W / 750W from personal experience depending on your future power need.

Stulid - quick question. What is the basis for the power requirements you're suggesting? I only ask because depending on whose opinion you listen to, total power consumption, even for a beast of a machine with twin cards, rarely seems to exceed 600W.

Bloomin eck! Just seen the Furmark power draw on 580 SLIs from your second link (850W !!) - I stand corrected.

I wonder how many PSUs Furmark has wrecked... :)

Cheers for the reply Stulid.

I'd get something beefier for that. Lepa 850W looks minimum (750W on 12V). XFX Pro 850W, Corsair TX850W, or that OCZ Z-850, but... it's OCZ athough the builder is Sirfa / Sirtec. Then you'll have plenty of headroom.

Just like you'd use a 750W PSU for a 560ti / 6950. Although a 650W will work with those as long as you don't go overclock silly.

Ok thanks.

What 850w PSU for around £90-£100 do people recommend?

The OCZ Z-850 is the one I seem to be leaning towards, seems to get great reviews.
