New PT Data: i9-9900K is 66% Pricier While Being Just 12% Faster than 2700X at Gaming

Btw for those interested, here is a video posted today using RTX2080Ti at 1080p with 8700K against 2700X

You know what strikes me about that, you never see more than 10% higher performance on the 8700K, mostly its under that.

And because you can see that performance difference playing out side by side, instead of a bar chart, it is to me so much more trustworthy.

Subed to him.

Yeah. Those head on benchmarks are better than some bar charts.

I really do like this kind of review. As mentioned it shows you more then just a bar graph.
However, there is one concern. This only reflects how well the drivers are doing. We need to also see how Vega 64 performs between 8700k and 2700X. Because I want to be certain which games are hw limited and which ones are not.
Odyssey was a game I was sure uses mult-core however from the review it's further from the truth. This is were a Vega 64 and Adrenaline come into play to show if that's the case or if Geforce Drivers needs improvement for that title, for example.

Until Vega 56/64 and Adrenaline is added to the mix it's never clear cut which games rely heavily on multi-cores vs 1-2 hw threads. Unless the developers tells us.

That's what really tells us where 2700x stands with the 8700K.

The only one that exists is a bar chart between 8700K @ 4.8Ghz and 2700X at stock with V56. Not a good indication tbh.
There are 2 benchmarks you can combine.... One with 8700K with GTX1080 vs 2700X with Vega 64 and another benchmark with 8700K with Vega 64 and 2700X with GTX1080.
Why nobody has done the obvious, is beyond me tbh.

No one cares!!! They will still sell .............I don't know how you guys can even be bothered to type this stuff.......

64 posts in here and hundreds spread between other threads plus untold amounts of videos and articles from reviewers all over the world tends not to agree with you. Yes they will sell of course they will but least we forget that this is a technology discussion forum, attached to a shop that i'm assuming pays your bills? Probably best for you guys that people are talking about it. ;)

I'm frankly amazed your employers allow you on this forum in an official capacity. Some of the rage and angst you spout on here is downright bizarre.

Well in the grand scheme of things he is right, They will still sell and the majority of buyers will still buy them. We may rant and complain on forums but really that doesnt change much.

If you removed the repeated (and repeated doesn't really cover it as a word) moaning about price posts though there would be very little content in the threads. Maybe that's what goes for discussion around here. ;)

It doesn't really matter does it? Discussion is discussion, if that be price, performance or any other metric that people want to discuss. It is all relevant to a product release so all grounds for discussion. Belittling your user base based on their discussion is not really the professional service you expect from one of the UK's biggest component retailers. Just saying.

I'm not defending the actions of staff members, just a lot of what is said in the threads is not discussion, just an echo chamber.

Shock horror as discussion occurs in discussion forum..

Its almost as if there is a general consensus that £600 for a CPU that is only a little quicker than a CPU that costs under £300 is utterly stupid.

And forums have been as such for 25 years and counting. This will never change. So complaining about it is even more futile than the echoing in the chamber to begin with.

Who's complaining? Just having a discussion about the definition of the word Discussion. Which a lot of this is not.

It does mean that if you are a gamer your budget has to be really high to make it "sensible" to go for the 9900K, you are best off putting the money into the GPU which means it only really makes sense in systems with a 2080ti.
