New Q6600 B3 Stepping Stress Testing

I am confused now... on the box it says SLACR which I thought was the G0 revision but CPU_Z says stepping B revision G0 and my motherboard gives it 1.325v by default. Is it the 95W version http://user.itl.net/~nlel/CPUZ.jpg I just downloaded the Intel Processor Identification and ran it - its says http://user.itl.net/~nlel/intelinfo.jpg so according to the intel data it is a B3

Run CoreTemp what is the VID?

I'd go with what CPU-Z says looks like you have a G0, albeit a bad one by the sounds of it :(

If it's box says SLACR then it's definately a G0. There is very very little chance they will mixed it up with a B3. Think you are just got unlucky. The most direct way is to see if it says SLACR on the actual CPU's IHS.

if it said SLACR, it is G0.

look at this pick: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v608/webbo10/3800final.jpg

its the first post on the Intel quad core daterbase, thanks to w3bbo

its the same on mine, it says steeping B, revision G0 in cpuz, the 95W is the give away on the etailers site, not as clear as overclockers website :p

don't worry, I had the same question about mine, when i got it, screamed and shouted a bit, then calmed down did a quick search and it was ok. revision G0

I checked the VID in coretemp its 1.325 is this the reason why I need so much voltage to get 3ghz relatively stable. Should I be able to get much higher clocks by upping the voltage so more alongwith a decent cooler -- it is a G0 I have afterall just a 1.325 VID one.

my B3 only needs 1.33125 Bios , 1.3 after droop for 3000Mhz, mind you it still gets to 65c prime 95 with a lapped TRUE and Heatspreader

I don't know what advantage (if any) I would have with my 1.325 VID G0 Q6600 over your B3 Stepping q6600... theoretically I should be able to overclock higher with a better cooler (I`m using stock) but becuase I have a high VID 1.325 it may reduce the max overclock I could get even with a decent cooler.

I am stress testing 3ghz at 1.38125 or 1.31 after vdrop if its stable I will most probably leave it at this setting rather then go after a higher overclock with a more expensive cooler.
