I have my eye on the Q6700, 1GHz bus (shown as 'pre-order' at OcUK)....hoping it is the new lower power stepping & I'm expecting stock around the 22nd as mentioned here a few times.

Yet...just called 'somewhere else' to be told all the new chips have a '50' at the end, hence it should be 'Q6750' (aint they the 1333 bus variants ?). Also release date is 13/14 of this month NOT 22nd !?!?

Where is the truth here ?

these chips r out now in some eu stores, but 22nd seems same all over uk for these chips. loads will let u pre order, but they aint got them.

The QX6700 is being relaunched on 22nd July as the Core 2 Quad Q6700 (the Q6700 is the G0 stepping version of the current QX6700).

The current QX6700 is £622.74 (inc VAT), which has the B3 stepping.

Intel had to change the name because QX is now reserved for the 1333 FSB quad processors.

No, the multiplier is locked.

The X refers to "Xtreme", meaning that the multiplier is fully unlocked.

Yeah, definatly get the Q6600 instead and save a lot of money, ive got a feeling the Q6600'a will clock better than the Q6700's just like the E6600's did over the E6700's.

i've got a Zelmen 9500, so if stock cooling can reach 3Ghz, im happy to buy the non-G0-stepping version and run it at 3Ghz

I don't understand people wanting the upward multiplyers unlocked, when todays boards can hit 1900fsb I think you'rew better off running the bus speeds as fast as they'll go at a lower multiplyer.
