New RAM causing crashes......?

I upgraded my MBP's RAM to its full capacity of 8GB recently, and since then I've had quite a few crashes - kernel panics and other strange crashes.

I'm wondering if it could be the RAM or if there's a way to check the consistency of the RAM? (I've also just installed an SSD and a new install of OS X, but I don't think it could be that as this was happening before the SSD was in...)

Any ideas??

Insert the Snow leopard Applications Install disc and then reboot. Hold down "D" and the Apple Hardware Test should start. AHT is basically memtest.

Test without extended initially, then if that passes ok, tick the extended tests and start the test again. It will take a long time (many hours) and will look like it's hung (ie no change of test time for hours at a time) but it won't. During this time you will not be able to use the machine (just to warn you in advance).

If it shows a problem then remove the ram and reseat it again. Retest. If it's still dodgy then it could be borked.

My MBP ram had this problem and it requires proper reseating and it's then 100% stable.
