I would get a faster graphics card, 7900GT or X1800XT. And a different PSU.

I'm happy with the 7600gt XXX, and i cant really afford the extra to stretch for a 7900gt and i don`t like ATI :p

How comes a diff psu??

The 7600GT XXX is a good card stick with it mate

PSU aint that bad but I would pick a seasonic or Enermax over it any day

Hmm. for a 500w enermax its £70, so more than the Hiper. And a 500w seasonic is £82    The hiper is 580w and modular! and looks the biz :D Dunno why you guys `dislike` it lol, read numerous reviews about it being really good. a lot of overclocking forums/website rave about it..so it must be semi-good? good price to! ;)

yeh im sticking with the 7600gt xxx, what fps do you reckon ill see on cs:s with maxed out settings? cheers!

I would pay the extra for the Liberty, Hiper reliability bit suspect. What's a few more quid over a damaged PSU & components? If this is a gaming card would still go for a better card, 7600GT is mid-end card.

You will need to do a fresh install of Windows.

Hmm...sorry but i don`t think imma take your advice, the 7600gt xxx should be more than enough for me..i`ve managed with a 6600gt for a long while now so im happy to be gettin a 7600

i really like the hiper...rly wanna get it.. :(

also, i`ve just backed up all my music/files. question tho; should i reformat the hdd before i build the new pc, or put it together, boot up with the hdd that has windows on it then reinstall? (if first option, how do i reformat?!) cheers.

Do not boot off the hard drive with the previous Windows installation on the new PC.

For your "boot" drive, with your existing PC, copy all of your data except for the operating system to other drives. So this drive can be safetly wiped without any unrecoverable data loss.

When you build this new machine only connect this hard drive. Boot off the Windows CD, then format, and install to this HD. Then connect up the other hard drives.

But more expensive! :( :(

I`m going with the Hiper damnit :p

Cannot wait to order this, gonna be flyin` along! ;)

You wont be flying along when your power supply blows up and you wish you'd bought a faster card for the money :p

i've only got 1 250gb hitachi sataII hdd. which i am using right now, in my PC with winXP on it. I plan to transfer this hdd to the new system. could i not just leave everything on it, put 2gether the new parts, boot into bios, set to boot to cd then install a new copy of windows overtop the current hdd? or should format this harddrive on this machine first, before i build the new one?

also, dont say things like that! :( :( the am2 cpu/DDR2 ram requires less power..so i`ll be safe you .. you...

So why not go for a lower rated, more reliable power supply?

lol sssssh :(

any1 know what the best approach is for the hdd issue? cheers.

Just put your current hdd in, boot to cd rom with the xp cd in, then just install from there. It should ask you to format before it installs

And lose all the data?

Burn off everthing that's important from the HD onto DVD-R or DVD-RW's, or buy another hard drive and install Windows onto the new one, leaving the old drive alone. You can then delete the swap file, Windows, program files directory off the old HD. You'll have the documents and settings\user files still there.

He didn't say buy another hard drive I don't think? You don't want to format then install to a hard drive that has data that isn't backed up. Unless he's going to buy a new hard drive, set that as drive C, only power that up, format/install. Then powerup existing drive so that'll appear as drive D: so no data loss.

Two hard drives are handy.

basically, i`ve backed up all important info/data off of this 250gb hdd, and am going to install XP onto it. what i wanted to know was wheter or not i should reformat this hdd before installing XP, or just install over the top of it once the new PC has been built. I`m not worried about losing anything, everythings backed up. ;)

You can put it in the new pc, boot up to cd rom with the windows XP cd, and you can format from there :)
