Is a new i5-4670k worse that a second hand 2700k/3770k??? I haven't really considered 2nd hand parts

The 4670k is the new gen i5. The 2700k is an i7 2nd Gen chip codenamed Sandybridge and the 3700k is 3rd Gen codenamed Ivybridge. All i7 chips are quad core with hyperthreading, so considerably quicker in specific tasks when compared to the i5 variant.

I'll probably have to stick with the i5 due to price unless I can find a cheapish i7 for a good price.

eBay have had a few going for sub £150 maybe get a bundle. Up to you, was just a suggestion.
