New rig ideas

Hello fellas, I'm wondering what your opinion on my proposed build is.

My current PC specs are as follows:
CPU: Phenom II X4 955 B.Ed.
GPU: 6870
Mobo: 770T-UD3

My proposed upgrades:
CPU: 3570k
GPU: GTX 770 (not sure yet)
Mobo: MSI Z77A-G45 (again not sure)

I'm not too sure about the GPU and the board. I don't want something overly expensive for the mobo, but I want quality at the same time. Also for the GPU I haven't made up my mind about the 770 and I'm sort of waiting for the 760 to come out (apparently on the 12th of June)...

Sorry for not including budget. Around that £600 mark, £650 max. Really looking for a system that will last me a couple of years of 1080p gaming.

Is there a considerable difference between the 3570k and the Haswell? I was told it's only something like 5% performance boost.


Edit: Just a quick question, any thoughts on 7970 vs 770?

why a 770 why not a 680? they are pretty much exactly the same. My 680 like a 7970 is not struggling with any games at all.

As for differences i'm not too sure haswell is faster to boot into windows and shutdown but i haven't really had a play. my 3570k is more than enough for a gamer and casual pc user.

Great post TwsT, I was looking at this article - http://www.vortez.net/articles_pages/nvidia_geforce_gtx770_review,20.html - and the 770 was beating the 680 on pretty much everything at 1080p while costing pretty much the same.

I'm not really too keen on an AMD processor right now - I've been having Intel recommended to me by pretty much everyone right now.
