I know you get asked this a million times but your help will be very gratefully recieved.

I have about £450 max to spend on a new rig. I have a Antec Sonata case and 4g of DDR2 800MHZ RAM thats available for the new build but I'm not worried if the best option is to go DDR3. I don't play games but do decode the odd video. Onboard good graphics are fine but an HDMI output would be good but not essential. Quieter the better. Looking for about a 20"+ screen. Don't need keyboard, mouse, speakers or OS.

What would be a good build.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Pete

Thanks for the specs. The GA-MA770T-UD3P appears to be a DDR3 motherboard. Is this correct? Apart from that it appears prefect.

nope, its an am2+/am3 motherboard , so it can take the AM3 processor and still use your ddr2 memory.

This looks pretty good as it comes out at £363 delivered. Reading on the web it appears that the southbridge chip set in this mobo may be able to unlock the extra processors in the 550 chip, anybody done this?

Anybody seen this Benq screen running?

Cheers for the help.

The Gigabyte GA-MA770T-UD3P you listed is a DDR3 only board.

The Gigabyte GA-MA790X-UD3P Superewza listed is a DDR2 only board.

The Gigabyte GA-MA770-UD3 mp260767 listed is DDR2 only board.

All of them can take AM3 processors. The DDR2 boards can also take AM2+ and AM2 processors.

Thanks for the help Quixote. I have changed the board and ordered all the bits. Can't wait now.

Thanks for the help everyone.
