hi guys

updating my rig soon to a i7 1366 or a 1156 but i not sure what to get. the rig shall be used for gamming and i have a about £500-£700 i only need a ,CPU, mobo, ram i have a corsair 850w psu, antec 902, hard drives h-50 ect

whats sould i get thanks guys

You don't say if you need a graphics card, what do you have at the moment? £500-700 is a lot to spend on just CPU, mobo and RAM.

If you don't intend to crossfire or run sLi, then I would suggest the i5 since they are comparable to i7's performance when it comes to gaming. If you intend to crossfire or run sLi config, then you can't go wrong with i7. Going on to i7 will also pave way for i9 upgrade in the future as they are designed for the the 1366 socket.

Regarding your question I would get i5 750, Geil ultra 2133mhz and your choice of motherboard depending on what you need.
