Hi guys, I have the BT home hub 3 that came with infinity and I am not very impressed with it at the moment. I am going to upgrade my router and I have ~£100 to spend on a new one. I have been looking at the LINKSYS E2000 which looks quite good but I am a bit of a noob when it comes to routers.

I am looking for fast Ethernet connections, fast wireless with a long range, port forwarding and firewall features and a wireless range that at least matches that of the home hub. I would also like a good user interface with good features.

Any suggestions?

Cheers

Don't buy the Apple airport extreme, It's crap.

I would look at the netgear WNDR3700, seems a few folk on here like it :)

And just to offer an alternative view, the Airport Extreme has by far the best wireless performance (speed and range) of any wireless router I've ever used and I've used about fifteen different types, Netgear, Belkin, Linksys, Draytek, the lot.

I have to agree with Feek, the Airport Extreme is certainly not crap in my experience. It's very reliable, doesn't drop the connection. My laptop is connected wirelessly on the 5ghz band and I get 300mb in virtually every room of my house, only dropping to 180ish in the conservatory. It's got gigabit ethernet, IPV6 and looks pretty good too for a router.

I use a Airport Extreme as well with my Bt Infinity set up

Easy to setup and configure

Range and speed are pretty good around my house.

If you are gonna get a Netgear one , make sure it is a dual band N

Airport extreme here. Sat under the stairs in a rack and still get full bars ANYWHERE in the house and garden.
