theres the router

My mates Old D-link 604 router died, so i bought this Belkin one. He is on Virgin media 10mb i think it is. Ive re-booted the cable, the router plenty of times, re-set router, etc the internet still won't work. If i go workgroup computers on his dads PC i can see both mates and his, but neither PC will connect to net. So the netowrk is working fine.

FIrst thing first is this Router compatible with the modem virgin have provided? If it isn't what should i get?

cheers for any help

Have you made sure you've connected the modem into the wan port on the router.

It's possible you could have connected it into a wrong port.

I've had to spoof the mac address on ntl lines before now to get routers to work with them. Don't know if that's still the case though...

I did this when I set mine up too. Haven't changed it for years so thats how mines set up.

If you go into the router admin page, does it show that you are getting a public ip address from virgin?

What you could do, this may sound silly. Unplug both, plug in the modem first then a couple of seconds later plug in the router.
