New router issue

We have just purchased a new router, a TP-Link one.

It works brilliantly and i set it up to use WPA2 protection.

All wireless clients connect perfectly to it, excpet a desktop machine running Windows 7 HP.

I made sure to delete all old wireless profiles and then went to connect to the network, i clicked on the new routers access point name and clicked connect, typed in the security code and it waits and waits then says the connection was unsuccessful and says we have limited or no connection.

When i look at the new wireless profile, i see it has the security type set to WEP, i can right click on the profile > properties and change the security type to WPA2 and enter the code but when i save it and attempt to connect to the network, i get a red cross and it says the network settings set so not match the routers requirements.

Why is the profile being set to WEP when the router is set to use WPA2 security?

If i change the router to use WEP then it works fine but i would prefer to have it set to WPA2 if at all possible.

TP-Link Technical Support said that they had no ideas but guessed because it was running an older version of Windows, to whcih i told her it was running Windows 7 Home Premium with all current updates installed!!!

Any ideas?

Thanks

Neil
