New Router Needed? (recommendations)

hmm yeah sorry didn't see you specced a different switch, the TP link router was £20, Netgear unmanaged was £29 and the managed one was £31 you guys think I may aswell just get the managed £31 option? I suppose its handy for cable tests and at only £10 more its no real biggie.. I assume it'll still be plug and play regardless I can just connect to it to do the things you mentioned above farrar?

I watched the video on the synology and being able to add a USB hard drive and use it sorta like a NAS is pretty cool and handy for network photo storage and stuff as I wouldn't waste my money on a NAS when everything I have is loseable so to speak, would be handy for storing Drivers, install files and things like that I guess and I assume with it not being used for backups and that kind of thing it wouldn't kill my internet using the storage space through the router?

Yes it's quite good that way, you can put a SD card in or USB and you pretty much have the full Synology NAS experience.
