I just installed a new router/modem for a friend and it's connected fine but can only browse google  I really don't know what's going on. The ISP is demon and the router is a cheap and nasty 'Mercury' router. Any ideas as to what's going on? Many thanks.

That's right, I can't browse any other site but google. I can view search results etc though.

The PC is configured to get IP/DNS details automatically. I don't have much experience in this field. Should I be changing anything especially with DNS settings of the router?

Try typing the following address into your web browser: 66.249.93.104

If you get to the google page then its a DNS issue.

Try specifying the DNS servers in your router if they wont pick them up automatically (primary and secondary):

Demons DNS Servers

Primary - 158.152.1.58
Secondary - 158.152.1.43

OpenDNS Servers

Primary - 208.67.222.222
Secondary - 208.67.220.220

Thanks for that, I’ll give it a go, though I’m at work at the moment so I won't be able to call for help if it doesn't work when I’m at the building where the router is :o Wish me luck!
