hello everyone need some suggestions on a third party router, i currently have sky fibre with max 40meg line, i am using there single channel sr102 hub but seems to be restricting my tp link wdn 4800 pci-e wireless card looking something along the lines of maybe 450 mbps same as my wireless card to get the benefit of the new card, my card is dual channel aswell thanks

How much are you willing to spend?

You could almost certainly get a pair of the latest generation Powerline adapters for less than a decent triple stream wireless router.

TP-Link's TL-PA6010KIT is under £40 and appears to achieve some very impressive throughput figures (SmallNetBuilder Powerline Charts).

thanks for the reply im looking a router just, i dont mind spending 50-60 on a third party router aslong as it works well with my new wireless card

The SR102 has a built in VDSL modem for Sky Fibre, so if you plan on replacing that you're going to need to also get a BTO Modem (recommend the HG612 over the ECI).

In terms of router, as Sky use MER for authentication after GEA, you're going to need a router that can pass over your sky credentials from your SR102 - most people go for the Asus range (N66U,AC68,AC78 etc) and slap Merlin or Tomato firmware on as these can pass your Sky credentials over. There are a few others, I think Draytek do them that can also do MER but there isn't loads.

im not so good on the network side of things lol ! will probably have to look into it more it really is a disaster having sky in a way and they dont make dual channel routers which is a big let down
