New rules to identify web trolls

Funnily enough this should hurt Facebook much further, a lot of trolls leaving will mean the stock price tumbles, oh dear.

Poor, poor Zuckerberg. :p

Spreading rumours is now illegal?

This really is getting ridiculous now. Everyone isn't a journalist.

Twitter will pretty much die.

I hope this is strictly limited to harassment.

This will get abused, but I don't see a problem in having to give details of actual bullies, in fact I actually feel more should be done to put a stop to them.

Nicola Brookes had been falsely branded a paedophile and drug dealer by users - known as trolls - on Facebook.

Anyone else read that as "all facebook users are trolls"? :D

It's also going to be fairly pointless really because even with the IP's how is she going to get the ISP's to hand over the details, proper trolls will move to proxies or vpn's and lets not forget the fact that the internet is global, so good luck suing anyone!

Government doesn't understand how the internet works.

It would be far simpler and cheaper to just to tell the victims to log out.

Not all trolls are bullies.

I agree, and since when did trolling become synonymous with bullying? Trolling always used to be about provoking a reaction from people, saying something that's likely to make you a target for bullies.

I don't see trolling to much of an issue tbh .. Posts can be easily removed providing they haven't got too much out of hand.. The problem I do have is with those that fall for their bait rather than ignoring them in the first place. Also those that fail to understand the difference between opinion and a real troll.

I do have a problem with bully's, which is different in my opinion.
