Hi there

Samsung visited today, with one of their new king of gaming monitors, the 49" as big as a desk, were gonna need a bigger desk monitors.

At first I had my doubts due to the 3840x1080 resolution, yes as a monitor for productivity there are better options, but then I loaded some games, Project Cars, Hitman (HDR) and Doom. In short I was blown away and the PC playing was just an i5 and AMD NANO. Games were simply out of this world, the field of view was incredible. Years ago to do this you needed three monitors, who remembers Eye-Finity or whatever AMD called it? Well now just one will do and oh my what an experience.

Though of course its definitely more suited to racing simulators, flight simulators and space shooters, but I have to say playing DOOM was simply incredible.

Though the monitor supports FREESYNC1&2, it also has some new techology where it has a sub 1ms response rate without inducing flicker and everyone was blown away by it. Infact it seem to rule out the need for FREESYNC or G-SYNC as in the fastest mode the fluidity was amazing and tear free. So much we opted to play games in fastest mode, how it works I do not know but here is a couple of videos where the Samsung guy is explaining it:

As always it is very hard to capture simply as in person it is super smooth and feels hugely fast.

You can pre-order now, as always OcUK will be pretty much exclusive for the first month or two as I've ordered all incoming stock to prevent competitors getting a look in. ;)

Also the 32" and 27" are 2560x1440 which we know is a favourite resolution/size combination for many gamers, just like the bigger 49" brother they feature HDR10, Quantum DOT, 144Hz and the impressive sub 1ms response technology.

Also remember these are VA panels, so nice deep blacks, rich colours and excellent viewing angles! :)

I recently got the 32 inch one, it's a cracking display and a huge upgrade on my old 1080p 60. Just waiting for vega now to get the full benefit.

1080p resolution definitely keeps this out of the gamers who'd spend over a grand on just a monitor. I see the benefits of 1080p on the gpu horse-power, but really thesedays vertically it needs to be at least 1440p.

I'm a gamer and I wouldn't spend £1000 on a monitor. Now would I spend £1000 on a GPU.

Also what is the PPI of the monitor?

eerrr CAN WE HAVE THE SAME MONITORS IN GSYNC PLEASE PARTICULARLY THE 32INCH HDR QD 1440P VERSION, A MONITOR OF THIS SPEC NEEDS GSYNC

not shouting

what gpu are you running it on?assuming its a AMD card have you got free sync working? how is it? in terms of performance considering you got hdr and quantum dot?

you getting high fps too?

a monitor like this is making me think to rid of my nvidia card just for the specs

Haven't checked out the HDR yet as none of the games i play support it. At the moment I'm using an rx 480, on medium to high settings i can get over 70fps on most games. The freesync is great, much better than my old freesync monitor.

I do use 1440 UW for my desktop and 2560x1080 UW 35" on my sim rig so that 49" UW is very appealing for that extra bit of peripheral vision on the sim rig but yep that price is a bit high for me but I assume they are a bit niche too.

RX 480 runs my 2560x1080 monitor and it doesn't even have Freesync but no tearing issues either, being 144Hz probably helps that though.

The 27" 1440p looks like an amazing monitor, but then you look at the specs and notice the freesync range being only 80-120 Hz (wtf?) and the monitor being curved with no VESA support. Thought the whole point of Freesync 2 would be to make sure the monitors used a wider frequency range!

If that is true then lol. Lost interest right there. Freesync 2 must equal full range with lfc.

Wow, that is terrible. I thought one of the stipulations of FS2 Was that it must use LFC? Wtf happened to that??
Exactly. Freesync 2 just lost a lot of credibility and interest if silly ranges like that will be certified as Freesync 2. AMD should have only given this monitor Freesync status.

They should have reserved Freesync 2 as a premium thing. Nothing premium about this monitor if that is the range.
