Is anyone here a New Scientist subscriber, if so do they have any offers for new subscribers to save some money?

I'm a Spectator subscriber, but fancying a change to something else for a while (plus, they just bumped up the price). Hell, if anyone has any money off codes for any 'high brow' magazine subscriptions, I'd be interested. Not a fan of Time or New Statesman though.

One guy in the secret santa got a National Geographic subscription, what a great gift!

Hoe scientific are you? New Scientist is a fantastic publication and there is nothing dumb about it at all, but it is definitely more narrative and less technical science. If you want 'more science' check out Scientific American. If you don't want a lethargic read, get New Scientist :)

My science knowledge is OK, but I'm not a scientist. I'm after something I can read whilst on the train, on the toilet, that sort of thing. I've read New Scientist in the past and I think it's a good balance between academic stuff and leisurely reading.

I've never read Scientific America before, so I'll check out the website.

High brow. :) :D :p

Save money and read the net or pick up random publications if you want something paper, I spent so much money on mags and papers over the years I've went the other way. That's me obviously, but you could still high brow on the pan with a netbook or pad.

Plus they don't last very long, reading wise.

There are different packages, the offers I get are £35 for 12 issues, print copy delivered and website access, but there are others with android, smart phone something or other.

I don't have a netbook or *pad, or a smart phone. There's something I quite like about paper magazines. I've tried reading magazines on my computer but it's just not the same.

Slambo - Yea, I only want the paper one. Their current offer is 12 for £35.75, which is OK but hoping to get it a little cheaper! Every bit helps, and all.

Shame I'm no longer a student, they can get it for around £20 for 12.

What proof do you need saying you are a student? If it is just a photocopy of your card, just rub the date out on the strathclyde ones, works a treat (if you still have it that is)

They want details of your university, and say that they'll verify with your institution. A bunch of the TFI'ers got the VPOCS to make them new cards with 2016 or something expiry dates. I missed out on that though. :(
