Obviously, if I had money dropping out my arse I'd be going Michelin Pilot Road 3's, however I've not got £280 notes at the moment, so looking at the following bearing in mind I need a Front: 120/70/17 and Rear: 180/55/17... probably Pirelli Diablo Stada... yep an old tyre BUT can pick up for £139 quid the pair. So, question is, anyone using them or would NOT recommend them?

if not, why not, if so why... and also, any other recommendations for under £180?

Are you after a sport or more of a sports touring Tyre? Heard lots of good things about Bridgestones offerings baring the BT021's.

The 021s are a great tyre very sticky but they wear quickly. The BT023's have superseded them and they last better. Still not cheap. Have a look at the Avon equivalents for a cheaper pair of decent tyres.

Tyres are like helmets - spend whatever you can on them.

if your after a sport tyre take a look at "maxxis super sports" as well, can pic up a set in your size for £130

if your after a touring tyre have a look at the "maxxis supermaxx diamond" for around the same money.

Will check the Maxxi's out. Looking for a sports tourer that will last... currently got "Dunlop Sportsmax D208F" on there, but they're shot.

Normal michelin pilot road in your size can be had around 150pound and are quite long lasting, i'm looking at getting a pair for my zx6r

This.

I've had a set of pilot roads, and road 2's and both were great.
Bought a new bike which has metzelers on it but once they're shot (very soon!) I'll be picking up a cheap set of pilots.

I put the Diablo Stradas on my SV650 and had no problems with them at all. They are a sports/touring tyre but they still have plenty of grip and they offer very good VFM.

http://www.oponeo.co.uk/ have the Dunlop RoadSmart tyres for £200 in your size if you can up the budget a little, they get excellent reviews.

I just phoned a garage for a new rear tyre and it's going to cost me £150 fitted. The problem is my front tyre is like new and i am not replacing that so gone for the same on the rear, a BT023.

Expensive things at times are bikes.

Mmm, went to a local place, who have a bit of a deal on, Pirelli Diablo Rosso 2's or Angels for £225 for front and rear, fitted and balanced all in, seems like a very good deal to me... anyone have these?

You should be able to pick up a pair of Pilot Power 2CT's for that budget. Stonking tyres, I've used them for the past 7 years on my RSV and I rate them seriously highly. Can't see past them tbh.

Right, just to let everyone know, I went old school and stayed with the Pirelli Diablo Strada St's... reason being is... I'm certainly of no talent to realise the difference between a good bike tyre and a bad one... and from what I've seen of reviews etc, it's pretty tough to make a BAD tyre from the big makes... so I stayed with the Pirelli as I got them for £139 delivered... so £20 notes per tyre for fitting meaning I've got a brand new set for £179 notes... that's not bad me thinks.

Obviously as I become a better rider and reach awesomeness, I may find I'm able to see the difference... however, for now, lets use this set as a benchmark... it's an older tech obviously but hey...
