A friends son requires a new PC where he can connect it to either a Wii U or more likely an Xbox One and simultaneously play games which he records, edits and uploads onto Youtube etc. Would want to record voice through a microphone too. Will be using Elgato HD 60. Pro apparently.

The games he plays on the PC are not super high graphics demanding though and the videos are not high quality however this may change in relatively short time I suppose. In truth he would want something that looks good and allows him to do his YouTube videos.

Budget is around £500 ex.vat for PC with connections and cables required to attach to consoles plus new webcam and microphone. Ability to dual monitor also required and suggestions of fairly reasonable monitors would be appreciated. Apreciate they probably will not be in the budget.

As you can tell this is lost on me so any assistance would be appreciated!

Well USB connections is all you will need for the microphones, webcams etc. Unless you are getting an XLR mic but thats not needed.

You will want a SSD for the OS and software like video editing software in my opinion.
Then a second hard drive that is high capacity for storage of media.

If your using the elgato HD60 PRO which is the new internal PCI slot elgato then it depends what your monitor setup will be. If he will be using 2 monitors then for ease you can have one monitor connected to the hdmi elgato and also a DVI to the PC graphics card. Then the second monitor having a DVI to PC graphics card too.

Any monitors will do, as consoles only outpul up to 60Hz, so no need for 144Hz, these dont look bad and will look sleek in a dual monitor setup https://www.overclockers.co.uk/asus...narrow-bezel-led-monitor-black-mo-050-as.html

Try PC Part picker as it shows whats compatible and then come back to OCUK to find the parts and see the price.

right let me explain-

that is a 2TB hard drive - 1tb is £20 cheaper so there is an option. Or you get a WD Black for around £80 i think and scrap the SSD and HDD i've listed but that is not as future proof.

Graphics card is hard to find a cheap one with 2 DVI outputs on the lower end cards. But feel free to look for other options

RAM - This is just some decent sticks of RAM (PLEASE CHECK COMPATIBILITY, didn't have time to check this)

MOBO and Processor look compatible and are reasonable prices (AGAIN CHECK)

PSU - Just randomly picked a decent looking one. If you look at all the components and there power consumption you will be able to find out if you need a 400W, 500W, 600W, PSU and so on. Just basically need to add them all up. This should show on the item description and manufactures websites.

REMEMBER TO CHECK ELGATO power consumption too

CASE- Personal preference so don't want to choose, just need one that fits ATX MOBO

CPU Cooler - Can use stock but would recommend after market one. But trying to keep your price as low as i can.

Please bear in mind i'm trying to keep the build future proof and cheap, not the easiest thing to do.

Feel free to check the power consumption, and comparability on these parts.

Or create your own build on the overclock website, then go to your basket and at the bottom it says BB CODE and paste this into this forum thread and i can look through it?

This is just to get you started - My first ever build was basic parts and it gets frustrating when they slow down so its better to spend money now rather then later.

Disclaimer that i have not checked compatibility or power consumption. You can check these on PC part pickers or by working your way through the descriptions. its good to know how to do these things anyway.

Please feel free to reply back with your opinions and i suggest your make a build in your basket and paste the BB code in here so i can take a look.

Thanks.

Thanks for that. So would you know what cables are required to attach to Xbox or the wii and what ports they plug into?

I am fine building PCs, just not so up with the software used to record gameplay on a gaming console...

-The WII U or XBOX One will connect via HDMI into the ELGATO PRO PCI CARD INPUT

-Then another HDMI cable will be in the output of the elgato going into one of the MONITORS

-Have a DVI connection from each monitor into the two DVI ports on the PC graphics card (If both monitors are also wanting to be able to be dual screen on PC)

The elgato software will select the ELGATO HD60 PRO and the PC will need to be turned on for there to be a display from the console to the monitor.

The elgato is just a quick middle man so the gameplay get slit up to the Computer hard drive and the Monitor.

Also please let me know what the thoughts are on the elgato HD60 Pro as ive been looking to upgrade to this from my external elgato.

Always wanted an internal capture card.

Does all of that make sense bud?

It does yes thanks very much.

Unfortunately I have never seen the Elgato Pro but I know he lives it and finds it easy to use.

Would you be a abl to recomm be a 'cool' case for a teenager with this setup? Just conscious the price is rising though.

Thanks again though much appreciated.

The elgato will come with 1 HDMI cable

Monitors may come with one, just make sure the monitor has HDMI and DVI input or some adapters may have to be purchased too.

Generally it will be the rendering of videos that the PC specs will affect like CPU and graphics card. The recording will be done mostly through the elgato, just need a decent processor so the software to record wont lag etc.

These are some of the Aerocool range which are kind of futuristic looking. I have an orange setup and i ended up getting the full tower orange X-Predator case.

I know that these have some Midi-towers that fit ATX Motherboards.

Have a look on here as most the cased are around £40-65 and they look quite cool, or if he is maybe wanting more of a sleek looking case with just a window or something i can look around again. https://www.overclockers.co.uk/brands/aero-cool/cases-and-modding/pc-cases?p=2

Areocool also have a load of different fans to match each case, and they are around £7 each and quiet.
