Might be coming into some money soon, and i want your take on this lot

37" panny DT30 led tv
Onkyo TXSR608
Mordaunt Short Aviano 6

I have a denon avr 1802 and 5 wharfdale rubiance speakers, do you reckon the speaker and amp combo would work.

I've heard mordaunt don't get on with denons.

If the 1802 sounds anything like the old 3801 I had then I'd definitely avoid any speakers with metal dome tweeters - not just MS. Your Wharfdales use silk dome tweeters so that will help tame any brittleness.

I've used Onkyo successfully with Focal (Chorus 700 & 800 series) and Monitor Audio (Radius & Bronze series) speakers which all use metal dome tweeters. They sounded fine.

If you do change the front stereo speakers then I'd consider going for a matching centre at the same time.

Well size limitations say 40" max, plus it's for my pc so has to be lcd.

Matching centre, that i could possibly manage, depends at the time.

Monitor audio, now those i do like but they cost a packet last time i checked, i could get away without upgrading the centre, possibly cut it out until such time where i can get one, if funds get tight.

Ok had a quick nose, the monitor bx5 look good so far, i did have a think about the tweeters, and funnily when i look back they've nearly all been silk domed tweeters, guess i enjoy the sound signature.

Ok had a further nose, im rather attracted to the rx6

I think an audition is in need, heard b&w on a cyrus, but they were too laid back for my taste, i heard some monitors a few years back and for me the only speaker to best my wharfdales.

I see that Vickers are selling a MA Bronze BR2-AV 5.1 package for £670 inc del on the 'bay. That's a cracking deal. Sell your existing speakers and replace with a complete matching set including proper dipole/bipole switchable rear surrounds.

Bronze hmm, would rather have silver tbh, something a good step up from my dales.

Thanks for the advice though, now i'll have to find somewhere to audition, living in the sticks can have it's downsides, i'll have to trek to poole which is say 120 miles away, if im to pick up the rx6, as they all refuse to courier them owing to how much they cost, sigh......

Thanks for the help, heard the bx6 the other day and it's lovely, nice and deep as well it showed up more expensive speakers and is reduced to £399 atm so a bargain.

Cheers guys.

Now time to figure out an amp, he said onkyo are a mare to setup.
