Ok after much reading through the forums I dicided to go for the following for christmas :- (already bought so please dont say "should have bought this!" :p)

CPU - Intel Core 2 Duo E6300
Mobo - Gigabyte GA 965P-DS3
RAM - Geil® Ultra DDR2 1.0GB PC6400 Dual Channel Kit
CPU Cooler - Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro
PSU - Thermaltake - 700Watt Tough Power

First of all how much differance do you think I would see from my current set up to the upgrade at stock? Just curious really...

Once ive swapped my current Mobo, CPU etc into my old case and everythings booting up ok (weather I have to reformat or not...have to just wait and see) then it will be time to overclock...Just want to know if anyone has basically the exact set up as mine, (as it seems to be very popular) and how I go about overclocking it ...could someone give me a basic run down of what needs to be enabled or disabled when first going into the BIOS and if i should just jump to a speed (say 2.5GHz) and work my way up from there. Also im not sure how the whole RAM and Volts things work, if someone could give me the basic jyst of how it all works (prefeables people with the same sort of setup) Also what sort of software do people use in these Intel systems? for temp monitoring and stress tests etc.

Im really excited about getting this as my current 3500+ couldnt break the 2.4Ghz mark :(

If you wouldnt mind providing as much info as possible as this will be the Thread I will be coming back to when I come to doing this...

Thanks Everyone

Si

i would m8,but i have the same chip but a differant board so i cant really advise you on settings for the board.

the chip should do 3.2+ easy.

can you post your batch no.? ie-L629B405

Cheers, btw when im overclocking do i have to overclock my RAM aswell or does that not effect the CPU clocking at all? Also is it recomended that as soon as ive installed new componments to get lastest BIOS?

The RAM is underclocked by motherboard auto settings
Its real speed and voltage is 800mhz (400fsb) and a voltage of 2.1v

You will see a BIG difference, even at stock speeds on a C2D. I came from a AMD 64 2800+

Even the difference from stock to 3.22ghz was huge.

Enjoy the overclocking

If you keep the ram:fsb ratio at 1:1 then as soon go over 400mhz you will be overclocking the ram as well

On the C2D chart, most are using F4, not sure why.
Mine was only updated as I had graphics problems with a X1900XT so thought a bios update would help, which didnt
