Naim cd5i cd player

Naim nait 5i integrated amp

Naim ariva floorstanders

currently at the beginning of the burn in phase, still sounding fantastic, only to get better.

I got lucky and got an instant upgrade to the naim ariva's, from the rega r5's that i had for only one week, as i managed to get the ariva's for about £500 less than they cost, as naim sent them to the shop as b-grade as they had s tiny chip at the back of one of the speakers, and they let me exchange the r5's for the ariva's just having to pay the difference.

Unfortunately not. My old Naim kit got worse during the first couple of weeks, the suddenly snapped into focus after a couple of weeks, and sounded ace.

Nice one.

i was demoing a Naim cdx2 today with that £500 din cable also plugged in. (the cable which only comes included with their flagship cd player, or you have to buy it separately.) My word it was a new level. The resolution and information was fantastic, especially on 'maggot brain' by funkadelic. It costs as much as my whole current system, just for the cd player. It will likely be my next upgrade. Big jump in money and quality.

Welcome to the world of great sounds and empty pockets :D

Nice set-up, for a Naim ;) ........... Room looks very "Hard" not many soft surface to absorb some of the reverb and standing wave.....How is it over long listening, not to bright or aggressive ???..
I've been looking at Quadraspire myself..... a bit pricey :(

I heard the Quadraspire dem at Heathrow this year, which was the chap demonstrating the standard wooden one (probably not a bad unit) against the acrylic version. I was almost impressed enough to think about getting out my wallet.
The only problem I could see was the "wobble" of it, which it's meant to do (picture a scaled down Japanese high rise block, which is designed to smooth out tremours). The salesmans view was that it made it child friendly. My view was that once a kid realised it would wobble, that he'd keep pushing it for the hell of it. Didn't seem that clever to me.

Been playing with the online configurator, just as an engineer I struggle a bit when, with a couple of bits of veneered mdf and a few short lengths of extruded tube I get to 400 + notes !..... Think I'll avoid the wobble principle

That's one way to make use of a fireplace I suppose. :)

Though I can't help but feel with the angle of those speaker grilles they'll be complete dust magnets.
