I've spent ages on this site and I think that's because I find it difficult working with/around already exisiting code.

That code being the K2 theme files for Wordpress. I first edited the K2 theme and stupidly realised that all my work and effort would be gone if K2 were to release an update, so then I set about making my changes into a style, instead.

The site is not yet fully complete, in terms of pages and sidebar options, but I will add to that over the next week or so.

What do you think?

I quite like it.

I have to say I love the grunge bit on the top of the banner, it's excellent, I may even steal it myself at one point.
 
It looks very good mate. Maybe a little to much of pattern overlay but other than that i like it.

p.s Best of lock with going to China, that really is amazing! :)

The gradient ovrerlay on the header doesn't quite match up with the background. Could you not make that part of the header transparent?

Are you going to have a gallery for your pictures as well? You can integrate gallery2 with WordPress, but I have no idea if it's any good.

I've recently installed WordPress to do my own blog, but I havn't created my own "style" yet. This will maybe give me the vibe to get it done.
 
Ahhh, the header did match up with the background locally but not on the web. I didn't spot that thanks. Now it's been fixed.

I'm currently looking for a gallery solution. I might use the Flickr Gallery plugin as a solution, but there aren't that many great choices that I've found, yet.

Looks very good indeed.

There isnt a lot you can really comment on it about because it uses Wordpress but that banner is absolutely fantastic and looks very innovative
 
Thanks. I think the rainbow is what really "makes" the site, so to speak.

Originally, I didn't have it, so the whole theme was grey, black, red and white with a slight depressing feeling. I thought rainbows are bright, colourful and happy so I'd make it appear to creep into the darkness and it totally lifted the site.

At least I think so.
 
Looks good John. The rainbow circle does lift it but i'm not entirely sure why.

If you hear the snap of latex during your medical then it's too late. Better go with the flow. :)

Do you have any plans to self-censor your blog content while you are in China? I know it's entirely unrelated to the thread but i'm curious.

I don't think it will need censoring. There are many blog sites out there for people living in China and only the terribly unacceptable blogs get blocked by the filters.

If they do block it, there are ways around it anyway. In China, if it's illegal, it can be had for a small fee. Corruption is great, and everyone is openly involved in it.

No way. They'd make me kill my site with fire, rub mustard on the server, punch it in the ovaries, nuke it from orbit... then, THEN... hack it for police.

Meh :/ God awful font..

Anyhow, the only other criticism would be the search box. Can't explain it. I just don't like it.

Other than that, woo you. Very pretty.
