New socket set

Halfords Pro/Advanced stuff is excellent even more so with the lifetime warranty.

No need to keep receipts etc anymore if something breaks just take it in and they swap it for new no more repair kits etc.

One thing I always make sure of if am buying a socket set is that there all 6 point sockets ;)

12 point sockets are great if you want round off your nuts & bolts...

The halfords sets do not however come in a durable quality case as op has specified. Although I just discovered I can replace the case for £15 as mine has a broken hinge

Yet another vote for Halfords Pro, got the 170 piece.

Managed to break the T50 bit trying to remove a steering wheel, they replaced it no questions asked. Very pleased.

Depends what you mean by durable. Mine is well used but i look after my stuff. I don't throw it around etc.

Its a blowmould plastic case, not exactly the corner stone of quality. I've had two and you only need to drop them once and the hinges and buckles break, they are heavy too so when they do slip off a surface they hit with some force. Obviously if you're careful or dont use it much it's not an issue but I use to use mine quite a lot and take it with me to track days etc where it was getting moved around a lot.

Halfords Pro/Advanced here. Have broken a T30 socket which they replaced. I was removing 75k old brake rusty brake disc screws and had to hammer the socket into the screw head and also "tap" the breaker bar. No quibble, changed on the spot.

I have the big 200 piece Halfords pro set with the ratchet spanners and it is a nice set. I got mine when it was £300 though :( for the current price it is a very good deal!

Not sure if anyone has mentioned it but the Halfords Pro stuff is the way forward. Don't forget Topcashback/Quidco for some extra money off.
