So, looks like I'll be moving in with my girlfriend at the end of January (check me out being all grown up and stuff) and we will be needing a new sofa. Now we were in Ikea a couple of months ago and saw a couple that we liked:
Friheten - http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/90243037/
Moheda - http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/50213952/

Now to the keen eye you will notice these are sofa beds, we're not particularly after a sofa bed but we liked the fact you could pull it out from undeneath and it was like having a massive extended sofa to chill out on.

The Moheda is a nicer sofa but only comes in the lovely brown, my question is; Do you guys know of anythign similar from anywhere else?

Cheers.

That looks extremely uncomfortable to me.

I would advise looking around the local showrooms (SCS etc). You don't have to buy it from them, but you'll get a better picture of what is available, what style you like, how big they are in person etc which should make searching online much easier.

As you seem to like corner sofas you may want to have a look at http://www.nabru.co.uk/ - I haven't tried them personally though.

Although firm, it's actually quite comfy. We obviously tried them out in ikea and her friend has one and we spent the night on it and used it as a normal sofa too, so I think I'd be happy with it day to day. Not particularly after a sofa bed, I just like the fact it turns in to a massive loungy sofa. Bed part is a bonus but a good sturdy recliner would also do the job.

That Argos one looks a good shout lots of positive customer reviews.

Looks similar to the Felix sofa we recently bought from John Lewis. They have revamped their range, so there are a lot of sofas, in different styles, and you choose what fabric you want from a massive catalogue. If it's a good seller, you may find they have it in stock and can deliver within a week.

It's well made and comfortable, and our last JL sofa lasted about 18 years(!)

It is worth going around and sitting on the sofas. Some are very upright, some are very slouchy. We like the Franz because it was half-way between the two, and the wife and I can now both stretch out without her stealing all the sofa and leaving me with a little bit to sit on.

You need to test the sofas to see if you are comfortable sitting up, slouching down, lying down, etc. and to see if you can get a colour that you want and a shape that you need.

I wasn't recommending that Argos one btw. I just knew about it and it matched what you were looking for (they have other similar ones too).

Personally I'd get the nicest regular corner sofa you can afford. Sofa beds are overpriced if you aren't going to use the bed part often and tbh you can sleep on a decent sofa if need be.

I'd be looking at something like this:

http://www.dfs.co.uk/corner-sofas/left-hand-facing-2-seater-pillow-back-corner-sofa-eternal

Like the DFS one above we currently have this in the house we're selling...

It's the comfiest sofa I've ever had, we got it as my parents got the same model and I love going round theres and sitting in it. You do have to look after them though, the cushions can lost the 'plump' if you don't look after them.

This colour scheme doesn't go with our new house so we're selling them but we got the exact same model from DFS again, just a different colour.

I wouldn't go near Ikea for sofa's tbh.

If I had the one I posted I wouldn't really be using the bed part as a bed but more of an extended sofa. But yeah, we're definitely going to have to look around and maybe wait on a DFS 'sale' ;)

Who's buying a sofa without sitting on it?

I've tried both of the ones I've mentioned, the Friheten moreso at a friends house and I've already said I'm going to go to have a look round proper sofa shops.

I mean just generally seeking recommendations on the internet, it seems daft for sofas.

Really, why? :/

I get that personal preference and all that but if somebody has brought a sofa they think is good value and the comfiest thing they own then share! :D - I did!

Getting peoples opinions on things always helps make a final decision.

I'd agree if I was just asking for general recommendations but I was asking about alternatives. But I appeciate the tips nonetheless and I actually like the look of the Bel Air mentioned.

Certain things yes but stuff like sofas and beds really need the ass/ lie down test before buying.

Of course, wouldn't buy anything without the wonderful test! :D

I think recommendations are okay though, so long as you don't outright buy them without the bum test!
