So, I took advantage of a 10% discount (until 1st Jan) at a large online retailer, to order a Sonos setup.

I've ordered the Starter Kit (S5 and Zonebridge) and 2nd S5 speaker set.

What do I need to do to get it running?
Will be streaming the itunes library from my MacBookPro that is left on 24/7 anyway.

I have a Spotify free account, will that suffice, or do I need a Premium Spotify Account?

What about Napster, am I right in thinking you can stream from there too?

What else do I need to do in advance?

Any "gotchas" that I need to watch for?

Cheers,

Lee.

It's pretty simple to setup. Basically plug everything in - one of the devices needs to be wired to your actual router. Then install the software and follow the prompts. Once installed you will need to point the software to where you music is stored. Spotify you need a premium account. Yes it supports napster but I've never tried it. No real gotchas as such that I've come across.

That's what I'm trying to weigh up, cost of premium spotify vs cost of napster etc... which is best for sonos? Anyone know?

don't think there is a min contract period for either so you could try both and just stick with the one you want.

Spotify also has a 7 day trial

Sonos setup arrived today.
Superb bits of kit. Very quick to setup.

Lovely crisp sound too, with no distortion noticeable at sensible volumes.

I've got two S5s and two ZP90s. The Sonos desktop software is a bit pants but I'm absolutely loving the ability to have multi-zones all synced with the same music. It's great at parties when people twig that all the rooms are playing the same music in sync. FYI on napster - there's a lot of noise on the Sonos forums that the performance of the napster service has been poor over the christmas period.

Yep, I've reg'd on the Sonos forums and have seen the Napster posts. About 5 pages long now over the Xmas period.

I think, for now, I'll stick with Web Radio and iTunes. :)
