If you liked the PSP you'll love the Vita, as it's very much more of the same especially in terms of how it feels in your hands. I've spent well over 1000 hours on this machine now (I test them) and I can honestly say it's just another handheld.
The best feature is probably the touch screen, though I get reluctant to touch it as it causes such smudges on the screen.
All in all, a good handheld but will get old very quickly just like my PSP did.
Any questions?
Are you using any kind of screen protector on that screen or is it just bare?
And did the PSP not get left behind by many simply because Sony stopped supporting it when the PS3 launched? Shuhei Yoshida has already identified that as something they intend to correct this time out.
Obviously the graphical side of things has improved, it is no where near a PS3 or Xbox 360 though. It looks dog ugly on TVs through a HDMI cable.
Build quality is exactly the same as the PSP, very plasticy - feels like I could twist it to snap it in half. The volume and power buttons are a bit indented into the system making them difficult to turn the thing on or turn up/down.
Anyone expecting it too look good on a hdtv compared to a full console was delusional anyway though. The hope though is that on the screen, at its resolution, that games will
appear not far off of what a full console looks like on a big screen.
As for build quality, are you referring to the original PSP or the later revisions? My brothers launch Jap PSP seems very solidly built.
What games have you been testing on it?
Hopefully true and hopefully an indication of when we might see it in Europe.
It has however been confirmed by Shuhei Yoshida via twitter that Uncharted will require a memory card. A crumpled sheet of paper was pictured elsewhere claiming to detail which games would need a memory card but it didn't look particularly legit. And then Yoshida got asked and confirmed for Uncharted at least.
Not an issue for me personally since I was getting a card anyway, but I can see it having an effect on sales since people will HAVE to get a memory card if they want to play that game which many probably will as it looks like the showcase title for the platform at launch.
I fully expect to see some retailer bundles with uncharted and a memory card and probably a screen protector and maybe a case.
If Sony were smart then the smallest memory card would be sold very cheap just to allow people to get on the digital bandwagon and at least allow them to make saves. however looking at the Japanese pricing that isn't going to happen.
As I said, not an issue for me, but I don't doubt that it will be for many.
So why exactly are you here?
