Hi all

I have a pair of in dash 4" speakers and a pair of 6.5" speakers in the front doors. The sound quality of these is awful however. Can anyone recommend replacements? I don't need something particularly loud or perfect but something better.

If you have the space, components are a definite yes.

They allow you to move the tweeter to a much better position, giving you much more dynamic range and overall, a much better, clearer sound.

A little bit more difficult to install as you obviously have the crossover and tweeter, but worth it.

I've had some Infinity 605CS' for a few years, so these will probably be good for the price...

If you can afford a bit more, I'd go for these...

Or if you want to go a little better, these...

What headunit do you have?

Looking at those they all have a mounting depth that's longer than 48mm which is my max apparently

You can build MDF mounting rings, which as well as increase the mounting depth also give the speaker a nice solid base to mount to, which will improve bass response :)

as mentioned, definately make some MDF rings. For that budget i'd go for the rainbows but go for the deluxe versions for a little more. They are the same speakers, but you get a much better crossover.

I had them in my old focus and my brother still uses them. very good quality!

Do you reckon they'll work well with my headunit? I can't go into the expense of an amplifier as well.

How are the infinities mentioned above in comparison to the Rainbows ? (non deluxe)

Many thanks!

I'm thinking of buying some new speakers as the ones in my new car are really poor. Can anybody tell me how much I'd expect to pay to get them fitted? Cheers.

Rainbows would be better in my opinion. My mate has the infinities in his scoob and although they are nice for the money, the rainbows are much better.

If you can stretch to an amp, do it. I only had an old JBL 75.4 but for £95 new it was supperb! you should get one second hand for £35ish.
