I want to replace my current system (p4 prescott 3.2ghz, Radeon x850pro, 1gb RAM) with a new spec. I have put together the system below - was just wondering if anyone could give me some feedback on the parts (if you have experienced them), whether any of the parts will conflict or any other suggestions for an alternative spec

Thanks!

New Spec:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ Socket AM2 Retail Boxed Processor
CoolerMaster Real Power 550W PSU
Sapphire Pure Crossfire 3200 Socket AM2 8 channel Dolby Digital Audio ATX
Corsair 2GB Kit (2x1GB) DDR2 800MHz/PC2-6400 XMS2 Memory Non-ECC Unbuffered CL5(5-5-5-12) Heat Spreader Lifetime Warranty
Seagate 500gb Nl35 Drive SATA Ii 7200RPM 16MB Cache
Seagate ST3250820AS 250GB 7200RPM SATA300 8MB Cache - OEM
2 x Sapphire 2600XT 256MB GDDR4 Dual DVI-I TVOut PCI-E Graphics Card
1 x Samsung SH-S183 SATA 18x DVD±RW/RAM Black - Bare Drive OEM

any reason for going with AMD over intel ?

maybe look at the Western Digital Caviar SE16 500GB 5000AAKS SATA-II 16MB Cache.

any particular reason you're going for 2x2600xt crossfire setup ?

Basically I prefer AMD over Intel and also there aren't many Intel boards with crossfire (hate HATE Nvidia). I was just wondering really what people could suggest - I would go for a dual core intel but I've heard they aren't all they're cracked up to be. Is there a graphics card that can match the performance of the 2 cards I've chosen or is there another crossfire setup anyone could recommend?

I dont know where your getting your information from but what you just said is a load of rubbish im afriad.

How much are you looking to spend on the whole machine?

Hows this:

Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.66GHz (1333FSB) - Retail
Tuniq Tower 120 CPU Cooler (Socket 478/754/939/940/AM2/LGA775)
Asus P5K Intel P35 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Western Digital Caviar SE16 500GB 5000AAKS SATA-II 16MB Cache
Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-5300C3 667MHz Dual Channel Kit
BFG GeForce 8800 GTX OC 768MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail
Asus DRW-1814BLT 18x18 DVD±RW Serial ATA Dual Layer Lightscribe
Corsair HX 520W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU

Total : £888.14

Clock the E6750 to 3.4GHZ which should be pretty easy to reach and you have a great gaming rig.
