Is there anything fundamentally floored below? Will be general use, photos, video encoding and some limited gaming etc...Hard disk I already have, and will probably stick in a raid array in later.

CPU Core 2 Duo E7300
MotherBoard Asus P5Q SE
Case Antec 300 Three Hundred Ultimate Gaming Case (comes with 2 fans)
Power Corsair TX 650W ATX2.2 SLi Compliant PSU
Memory Corsair TWIN2X2048-8500C5D
CD/DVD Sony Optiarc AD7200S-0B
Fan Sharkoon 120mm (if needed)
Graphics Card XFX GeForce 9600 GSO XXX

Should all come in about GBP 450

any suggestions for better value by higher or lower costs welcome..thx for any help here.

Hi and welcome. :)

The build looks good but you don't need 8500 RAM, just go for 4GB 6400 instead.
The PSU is also probably a little overkill for that build, unless you are thinking of going crossfire and addings loads more hardware later on?

I made a spec below to show roughly what I would buy for that budget. The Zalman PSU is modular so it'll keep the case more tidy and improve airflow.

Many thanks, just got to look at this in more detail. Will order on your spec but was thinking of switching the graphics card. Reason being I am am undecided right now on dual screens (hence 2 DVI connections required) or just a bigger single screen when i upgrqde my screen.

Was thinking of this card...pretty much same spec
HIS ATI Radeon HD 4830 512MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI/HDMI (PCI-Express) - Retail £89.99 (£103.49)

Thanks :)

The HIS card will be fine, they'll both perform the same. Just chose whichever one you prefer.
Type "HIS ATI Radeon HD 4830" into a Google search and you'll find a few reviews on the card to help you decide. :)

Good luck.
