New Spec Please

The memory change looks like a good shout, unless anyone else has any comments on it.

Would we get any real advantage with the aftermarket cooler?

The Ballistix RAM has a reasonable rep for overclocking so it should run a little faster should you want to tinker with it. I can't guarantee a speed you should really buy RAM rated at the speed you want. He doesn't want to play games so 1600Mhz is good enough really.

As you get free P&P you could change the heatsink later if the stock one doesn't cut the mustard for him.

Hi Guys,

Need some help, I've got the kit but the system is not posting.

I've removed the board from the case. Setup with just the 24 pin and 4 pin power, cpu+cpufan, and memory in. and keyboard and VGA.

Power button turns on the system and cpu fan powers up off the board. No power to keyboard or mouse (when tried)
I've removed one (then the other) then both memory sticks and no change.
I'm concerned the 24 pin cable isn't sitting properly as it doesn't seem quite flush. but again the board does appear to be getting power.

Any suggestions please?

Not off the top of my head. You could try resetting the CMOS, but you shouldn't need to do that on a new board. It's a hassle removing the cooler, but you could check that none of the CPU pins are bent.

Thanks for the help Teppic, but I think I've found it.

Re-tested again from scratch, and it seems to be Dimm slot 1.

Either of the memory modules in slot 2 and it posts to bios.

Either of them in slot 1 and nothing.

Yeah got the old can of air out and no joy, just posted in the customer service forum to get the ball rolling on rma.

Just my luck

Ah well. I guess you can use it with one slot until it's picked up, and hopefully another will get sent out straight away.

You should also check for bent pins on the CPU ... it might cause issues with a memory slot if there are any.

Just got and fitted the replacement Mobo and have the same issue. Again I've pulled the CPU out and all pins look ok.
