Keep your RAM and CPU.

Then switch to a Bulldozer CPU later on etc.

The motherboard and PSU are capable of running a pair of 6950 cards in Crossfire.

Ok, But how comes such a large powersupply??

For a pair of 6950 cards then thats whats needed, you can get a way with a good 650W card but the Lepa is modular and is a good price.

The specs before had motherboards that either didn't support multiple graphic cards or were no good at it.

The AM3+ gigabyte board above runs both slots at 8X/8X equally or just 16X with a single card.

The ASUS P67 board above only does two cards at an uneven 16X/4X, the MSI in post#2 only has a single PCI-E slot.

futureproofing and guarenteed stability.

less than a 750w is barely enough, and 750 will provide a little overclocking headroom etc.

i have a 700 and it powers my rig (in the sig) so it should futureproof for a second card (since the gtx480 pulls practically twice that of a 6870/6950

Ohh sorry, Im only get a single GPU Mate. Sorry for not mentioning before :P

No drama, its only the AM3+ spec that needs changing then:)

So this PSU is Gold rated so will save money on the electricity bill

Sorry if Im getting annoying or anything? But do I need to change motherboard?? I would have thought processor would need changing more?

For?

The AM3+ motherboard will cope with any single card (ATI or nvidia) and just use you tri-core until you can swap to Bulldozer whenever its released.

Ohh! I see! :D Thanks man.. Is the 570 better than the 6950?

In my personal view yes.

That Gigabyte has a custom cooler and has a nice little overclock compared to a standard speed GTX570 - http://www.gigabyte.us/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3895#ov

Its 280mm long (11") so it will fit your case according to the Silverstone specs.

You can see relative performance of various stock speed cards here - http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/ASUS/GeForce_GTX_580_Matrix/27.html

Oh yeah, Is the PSU Modular?

No.

Its only redeeming feature is its Gold rating.

Just showing you various options:D

There are cheaper AM3+ boards but you do lose out on features such as SATA3.0 (useful for SSD drives)

This board - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-466-AS

http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD_AM3Plus/M5A78LMUSB3/

Its AM3+ and does support 125W CPU's (important for a full range of CPU compatibility)

Well hopefully you get the idea now.

1) Go sandybridge in spec #2

2) Keep the tri core CPU and get a AM3+ board ready for Bulldozer, a 6950 at no more than £200 or a full on powerhouse like the GTX570. PSU choices you have modular or not and Gold or Bronze rating, but anything 600W+ is good for a single powerful card, as long as its XFX/Antec/Corsair/OCZ/Lepa its hard to go wrong.
