hey guys and girls im currently looking at an upgrade of my machine i currently have an athlon x2 4600+ @ 2.9 ghz 2 gig ocz value ram and an asrock dual sata 2 board and at christmas i got cod4 and an 8800 gts 640 and my athlon just doesnt seem to run it in games no more so im wanting an upgrade to a faster intel cpu. i really like the look of the pentium E2xxx cpus but im wanting to know which motherboard and ram mainly to go for as im on a 140 quid budget for mobo cpu ram and a cooler :( , any help appreciated :)

EDIT: i have been looking at the asus p5b motherboard as it supports quad and 45 nm but i dont know how widely available the mobo

e2xxx series chip you prefer
asus p5k
2GB geil RAM (or whatever else is on special, but I know the geil and this board work together).

Job done :)

140 is my absolute max im afraid lol yeah the p5k's look good i just want a quick cpu that wont let down my 8800 :) , also what post count is it now to get into the mm as i dont fancy ebaying my old cpu mobo and ram had trouble with ebay before

Well ive managed to get a buyer for my old stuff so can go a bit more but i still like the 2xx0 series cpus for sure i dont feel its worth spending 120 quid on a 6750 etc if the performance gains arent all that

Just ordered the Asus p5k and the E2140 , And sourced ram from elswhere just also got my scythe which has 775 fittings which im using on my 939 setup soon so lets see how good it clocks when i get it knowing me it wont clock well :p anyways thanks for recommendations
